How to make your own natural DIY dry shampoo.

Put your hand up if you've scored an extra day without washing your hair by just adding a little dry shampoo into your roots? 

Since their eruption into the haircare market, dry shampoos have been an easy way to stretch out a couple of extra days between washes. They work by helping to dry up excess oil in your roots and giving the appearance of cleaner fresher hair. 
But did you know you could make your own? A version that is natural and free from any extra plastic packaging or aerosol cans. #WinWin

DIY DRY SHAMPOO
Base ingredients:
- 2 tbsp Cornstarch
- 2 tbsp Arrowroot 
- 1 tbsp Bi-carb Soda (this can be avoided by upping the arrowroot)
- 6 drops of your favourite essential oil (such as lavender, lemon, rosemary, peppermint etc) **not required. 

Alterations for coloured hair:
- Brunettes - 1 or 2 tbsp of Cocoa Powder 
- Reds - 2 tbsp of Cinnamon 
- Blacks - 2 tbsp of active Charcoal

Other great dry shampoo ingredients:
- Bentonite Clay - is great for absorbing moisture, toxins and oils.
- Coffee - great for hiding greys and stimulate your roots making your hair stronger.
- Fenugreek - useful for fighting dandruff and scalp issues.
- Zinc Oxide - great for sensitives and has a calming effect on scalps.

Method:
- Using a sieve, combine all ingredients into a small mason jar or container and shake well.
- Use an old dry power brush is an easy way to work the power into the roots of your hair.
- Let sit for a couple of minutes before brushing. 

Tips:
Cut holes into the top of your mason jar to help aerate the mixture.
- A bit lumpy? You might have used too much cocoa powder. (Dial it down). 
- Don't want to use cocoa and you've got dark hair? Apply the dry shampoo overnight and brush out in the morning.
